Kylie BemisAssistant Teaching Professor Kylie earned her Ph.D. in Statistics from Purdue University. Her research explores statistical computing and machine learning methods for bioinformatics, advancing tools that connect computation with biological discovery. Kylie is a member of the Zuni tribe, and outside academia she is an activist and advocate for the Native American, neurodivergent, and LGBTQIA+ communities. |

Samry HehnAdministrative Coordinator Samry is the Institute’s administrative coordinator who helps ensure the smooth flow of the Institute and helps manage it from finance to event planning. She thoroughly enjoys being part of the team and is excited for the future of the institute. When she is not at work Samry enjoys working out, cooking/hosting for friends, listening to podcasts, reading and working on her crochet projects |

Ritwik AnandPhD Student Ritwik’s focus is in extending and applying causal theory to handle biomolecular systems. Developing models to handle the feedback loops and dynamics of such networks, and algorithms to handle the noise and uncertainty typically seen in biological data. Outside of research Ritwik enjoys traveling, hiking, climbing, cooking and raving until his joints can’t function. |

Devon KohlerPhD Student Devon joins Northeastern University from Nantucket, MA. His research focuses on leveraging statistical and causal inference to uncover insights in proteomics. Outside of the lab, Devon can be found surfing, snowboarding, or just hanging out with his cat |

Sai Srikanth LakkimsettyPhD Student Sai is a doctoral student in the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University. Sai research coregistration approaches of multiple imaging modalities primarily mass spectrometry imaging for enabling and improving downstream statistical analyses. Sai’s research interests also include optimization methods involving generative machine learning methods. In his free time, Sai enjoys pursuing his photography especially portraiture. He is also an aviation enthusiast and enjoys board sports.

Sarah SzveteczPhD Student Sarah is interested in developing statistical and machine learning methods to analyze chemoproteomics data, with a focus on drug response prediction and target identification. Outside of the lab, she enjoys yoga, exploring new vegan restaurants, and making the most of New England’s seasons, from summer days at the beach to skiing in the winter. |

Vartika TewariPhD Student Vartika is a PhD student in Olga Vitek’s lab, where her research focuses on developing causal generative AI models for realistic mass spectrometry data generation. She is particularly interested in how these models can improve experimental design and advance statistical learning for proteomics. Outside of research, she loves cooking vegetarian food from around the world and exploring new hiking trails. |

Tony WuPhD Student Tony specializes in computational biology with a focus on mass spectrometry-based proteomics and causal inference. His research involves developing graph-based algorithms to analyze biomolecular networks, addressing challenges like batch effects and hypothesis generation from proteomics data. Outside of research, Tony enjoys cooking, especially experimenting with Chinese cuisine, and playing in a 32-team dynasty fantasy basketball league. He is focused on improving his Chinese reading skills through reading short stories. |
